Last Wednesday, on the first of April, Galway Toastmasters Club had the privilege of hosting our annual International speech and Evaluation contests.
We were delighted to have Paul C as our master of ceremony, and enjoyed a smooth, insightful and quality meeting.
Topics such as life, health, happiness, folklore and doing the right thing, inspired Toastmasters Club Members and guests.
Our contestants in the speech contest, and their speech titles, were:
Pat O’D.: ‘Running: Good for the body, mind, and soul”
Ann O’M: ‘What day is it?’
Pat C.: ‘Right is Right’
Our evaluatorwere Aisling C and Donal L. They both provided highly constructive criticism in a friendly, encouraging way, showing off their communication skills. They were evaluating a test speech delivered by Margaret S titled 'A Trip Down Memory Lane'.
Gary B, our Topicsmaster, added a touch of humour to the meeting in an elegant, yet relax manner, that helped to balance the formality of the meeting and get us all in the mood to talk. He left members wanting to speak more.
Our winners
Our President, Margaret, presenting 1st place in the Speech Contest to Pat C.
Evaluation Contest winner Aisling C. receiving her cert from our President
Our club will have the honour of hosting the next stage in the contest, the Area 12 Final, on Saturday 11th April, at 2pm in the Menlo Park Hotel. Guests and members are very welcome to attend.
