Voting, Writers, Pilots, Dresses

One of my favourite aspects to a Toastmasters meeting, is you never ever know what you’re going to get. The format will be the same, almost the world over, but the mix of people, the topics and speeches and the atmosphere of the room will be different every night.

We had four speakers on the night with subjects ranging from Irish voting, Russian writers, British pilots, to human statues.

Ann O’M. led us through a lively topics session.

For the prepared speeches, we had two from the Competent Communicator maual and two from advanced manuals.

Working from the Competenet Communicator manual, Martin talked about voting in Ireland, how it works and how we tend to behave around politicians and elections. And Ann gave us a very interesting speech about the Russian autor Tolstoy.
From the advanced manuals, Rob, visiting from Oranmore, told us an endearing and very personal story about a desire to becomea a pilot and had us laughing the entire way through.
I gave a speech from the Interpretive Reading manual.  You can watch it on the video link below.

Our evaluators were Astrid, Jenny, Mike, and Frances.  Our General Evaluator was Gary, and our Creative Corner was delievered by Ailish.

Galway Toastmasters met on Wednesday 17th September in the Menlo Park Hotel. We meet every second Wednesday at 8.30pm.
