"Get busy living or get busy dying".

The meeting on Wednesday the 22nd of February was opened by our President Pat and was swiftly handed over to Mike, our comical Toastmaster for the evening. The educational speech delivered by Margaret was on ‘picking a topic’. It highlighted that if your enthusiasm for the topic isn’t flowing early on, to let it go!

The following topics session involved speaking for two minutes on an object blindly drawn from “Sarah’s bag of tricks”. Those with crew cuts spoke about hair straighteners, the nostalgic about a computer mouse and the sentimental about tissues.

Next up was a CC9 speech prepared by Martin with the intention to persuade his audience that growing comes with learning. He quoted from the Shawshank Redemption, “Get bust living or get busy dying”!

Our final prepared speech of the night before the break was an ACB speech given by Donal aiming to inform us on “Road Car Safety Progams”. He foresees a V2V ‘vehicle to vehicle’ future, where vehicles will communicate directly with each other. Anything to minimize human interactions!

Near the end of the night, in the creative corner, Astrid enticed us to consider Galway’s own introductory course to sailing and learn to have the wind as an ally. Our President wrapped up the meeting and Wednesday the 8th of March is when we will next gather.
