Disconnect to reconnect.

Our club competition held on the 5th April was opened by our President Pat and was soon handed over to Ellen, our contest chair for the evening. Dispersed through out the evening were table topics ranging from who would you consider your hero to be to recalling happy childhood memories.

The first competition of the evening was the International Speech contest. Three excellent speeches entertained us. We were encouraged to look after the well being of our physical brains, to consider giving, as one of the most rewarding ways to live and lastly we were reminded of the value of disconnecting from our electronic devices in order to connect with the present moment.

The second competition of the evening was the Evaluation contest. Initially all the competitors witnessed a humorous speech entitled "What not to say to someone on a diet!". Not only was it an eye opener but it was also very well delivered providing a tough task for those competing. Nonetheless, against the clock, our three competitors organised their thoughts and graced us with their keen observations.

Following the tea and biscuits, it was revealed that the Lady of the Evening was no other than Frances Geoghegan, who emerged victorious in both competitions! Our President Pat wrapped up the meeting and announced the 19th of April as the date of our next gathering.
