The meeting was opened on time by our
president Pat. Our Toastmaster for the
evening Donal introduced each of the roles. Declan, the Grammarian, kept in with
the festivities by giving the word “Frightened” as the word of the night.

Eamon was the first speaker up and his
title was The Blue Bird, his speech was inspiring and got us all thinking about
Facebook and social media and how much time we waste on these sites. The second
speech of the night was by Pat titled Own goal, yet again Pat always entertains
the audience. An excellent speech - well done. The third speech of the night was
by Darragh where he was selling us The Christmas Dream, he firstly started by
explaining sales and cold calling and then asked a member of the audience to
engage in a role play with him. This speech had many members asking Darragh for
a look at the brochure at the break-very persuasive and excellent marketing. The
final speech of the night was by another Pat on Situational Awareness on how our
minds think, the audience were engaged by solving problems and got everyone
engaged and thinking. The speech left us all thinking when do we think fast or
think slow.
After an enjoyable break and tasty
biscuits. Frances took over as the General Evaluator. Each speech was evaluated and
Frances gave feedback to everyone and on the meeting. The officers were called on to give their
reports. Brian gave a very interesting poem for the creative corner. Our
president then closed the meeting. A very enjoyable meeting- thank you all.
Our
next meeting is Wednesday the 15th of November.
Hope to see you there.
