Elephant in the room!

Our last Toastmasters meeting was held on the 1st of May. The meeting was opened by our President Sarah, who brought along her ankle bracelet “Elephant”. Sarah handed over to our Toastmaster for the evening, Margaret,  who introduced each officer and ran the first half of the meeting.
Margaret introduced Martin to deliver his presentation on “The Successful Club Series – Meeting Roles & Responsibilities”., whom delivered a very insightful presentation on the roles and responsibilities within a Toastmasters club. This, along with what it takes from the team to put Toastmasters meetings together! Martin concluded his presentation with a famous quote from the one and only Henry Ford:

The Topicsmaster for the night was Ann-Marie and there was fantastic participation from all who were asked to discuss a topic and, members and guests who completed an “add-on”. Topics included what would be the eight wonder of the world, Random acts of kindness and experiences outside of one’s comfort zone.
With the Topics section concluded, we moved on to the four speeches.
Margaret introduced Aishling to deliver her speech named “Churches, Calendars & Coffee”. Aishling delivered a highly entertaining and educational speech depicting her experiences whilst travelling to Lalibela in Ethiopia. We were truly educated and enlightened with tales of the 11 medieval churches, the Gregorian and Julian Calendars and food that had a texture like carpet underlay!
