11th May 2022 - Exponentially Enough

Our president Eugene opened our meeting on Wednesday the 11th of May, he attended on Zoom.

Frances was our Sergeant at Arms as well as our Timekeeper for the evening.  Luke was the Ah Counter and he gave a great, detailed report towards the end of the meeting. Máire was our Grammarian; she chose the word ‘exponentially’ which was used many times throughout the night.

The role of Topic Master was shared by Pat and Avril, it included a range of interesting topics such as: Skills we have forgotten, Twitter, Women in Sport, Katie Taylor and Equality in Sports. It was a really entertaining topics session with lots of add-ons.

Máire was our first speaker with a fantastic speech entitled ‘That Would be Enough’. She completed the Strategic Relationships Pathway (L2) based on understanding your leadership style.

Our second speaker was Maria, she also completed the same pathway. She talked about her own leadership style based on a Toastmasters Questionnaire. She also discussed the various types of leadership along with the advantages/disadvantages.

Both speeches provided really reflected on the topic of leadership in different and informative ways.

Our evaluators were Jenny and Tomas and they both gave excellent feedback.

Eugene completed a very interesting creative corner based on the work of the Beatles and a response they gave to their literacy critics.

Martin was our General Evaluator and overall our meeting went very well, lots of interesting topics and speeches with plenty of humour.

Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday the 25th of May at 8pm in the Menlo Park Hotel and it is also available on Zoom.
