For over 25 years Galway Toastmasters has offered a “mini University of life” to the local community. It is striking phrases, like this one from Seamus, that flowed and resurfaced throughout the night, from current and past members celebrating the club’s quarter of a century in existence.
Though the meeting
was shortened to allow for cake and bubbly, it goes without saying that our
Topics session with Pat and speech from Pat eile were a rip-roaring success.
Just about everyone had some nugget of wisdom to share in the topics session,
and Pat’s speech evaluation was beautifully commended by Mike. A testament to
his speech. I must take this moment to congratulate our long-time member Frances who was awarded the accolade of Distinguished Toastmaster. The first of its kind awarded in Galway Toastmasters. Frances has contributed and raised the bar for fellow Toastmasters with her journey of over 18 years. I’ve listened to Frances speak on many occasions, and I always feel blessed to be in the audience. And to imagine her journey started 18 years ago by glancing an eye over the notice board in the local library. If you’re reading this, maybe this is the notice board you should act on, and of course, we look forward to greeting you soon 😉 Thank you Galway Toastmasters - Sarah 😊
QUOTES FROM THE EVENING
It’s not about being the best, it’s about being better than your last speech (Donal).
It’s a place you can take risks, a safe place to try things- not worrying about failing (Frank).
It is a gift to watch people blossom from their head down speaking behind a podium, to standing out in front of an audience with confidence (Frances).
