I have to say
the toastmasters meet on the 8/1/2020 was another high-energy, vibrant
occasion.
As one member aptly summed up before, toastmasters is analogous to
the ‘school of life’ and we all came away having learned something new.
The
crowd numbers are ever-increasing and that’s a tribute to how well-run,
encouraging and enthusiastic the meetings are.
The topics for the evening
included New Year's Resolutions, topical flu vaccines and how to reset your
mindset on a Monday.
You know the topics are a great success when the members
and guests all have their hands up hoping to be picked to speak.
A great topics
section inspires people to speak impromptu regardless of nerves and that was
evident this evening.
The two ice-breaker speeches at the meet really set a
high standard for 2020 and were both really interesting, humorous and
serendipitously congruent.
We had two following speeches from more experienced
members from which we learned about the difference between hearing and
listening and enjoyed a humorous anecdote about pub raids.
At the tea break,
members could bond more and enjoy conversing with all the other like-minded
individuals all on different stages of their public-speaking journey.
And the
final note, delivered through a poem in the creative corner, reminded us all of
the importance of brushing our teeth.
As evident from
this meeting, no two are ever the same, yet the perfect group always assembles.
