The meeting started as usual with the club President, Pat, the Toastmaster and the various roles for the evening introducing themselves.
The Topicsmaster had some fabulous questions, ranging from mobile phones to kindles and electric scooters. A lot of add-ons showed a keen interest in the questions asked and even some guests were amongst the speakers too.
The first speech of the evening gave a bit of a history lesson and ….could you call it biology….? Great laughs were had and the objective of the speech well achieved (Engaging Humour). The second speaker gave good insight into leadership strategies and was quite convincing in his presentation!
Some people utilized the word of the day, which was ‘dissent’ – or to have a different opinion (I hope not many people will dissent with my summary of the evening’s proceedings!).
The evaluators gave feedback on King Kong’s balls and inspirational leadership followed by various reports from the grammarian, Ah-Counter and, of course, the general evaluator.
The creative corner was a lovely poem called Saoirse (Freedom) by Sean O’Riordan, presented in Irish and English.
