Tonight's meeting was, as usual, the usual heady mix of good speeches, good topics and good company. Our Toastmaster for the evening, Frances, welcomed us all and set the tone for the evening. She announced the various officers for the evening. Christine was our Sergeant-At-Arms, Kathy was our Grammarian and Jekin our Ah-counter. Micheal was Timekeeper, Bea performed the role of Creative Corner, Martin was scribe and Helen was our General Evaluator. The final role was Topicsmaster which Frances introduced and handed the session over to Paul who proceeded to lead a lively and interesting topics session.
Following the topics we had our prepared speeches. Avril's speech, "The Neurotic Mind" gave plenty food for thought. Similarly, Pats speech about the influence of K-pop highlighted that the considerable power that comes with their influence. Mark then spoke on upcoming exam reform in the Irish Education system which was an eye opener for all.
Following the break, our General Evaluator, Helen, called us back and introduced the evaluators for Avril, Pat and Mark's speeches being Ali, Maud and Dion. They each gave positive feedback and a number of suggestions that could further strengthen the three excellent speeches.
Kathyand Jekin gave their officer reports as Grammarian and Ah-counter respectively before Bea enhanced her reputation for inspiration with her Creative Corner.
Our next meeting, 25th June, is to be a celebration night to mark the end of the Toastmasters Year and the achievements of the club and the outgoing Club committee. It promises to be a lovely evening.
