Holidays, Beer, and The Liberator

Our meeting of the 11th of June was our last meeting of the club year.

Margaret Sm. covered as Toastmaster for the night.  Aonghus took on the role of Topicsmaster for the first time. He had a fascinating range of topics from subjects such as the World Cup to questions around the pros and cons of self-service checkouts in supermarkets.

Donal was our Timekeeper, Aisling our Grammarian and Emer the Ah-counter.

We had three speeches, one from the Competent Communicator manual and two from the advanced manual series.

• Pat O'D told us about a recent holiday experience with plenty of insights and humour including the drama of an Irishman eating breakfast from a buffet every morning.
• From the Entertaining Speaker manual, Pat C delivered a tale exploring drinking and beer around the world. 
• From the Storytelling manual, Paul C told us about an episode in the life of Daniel O'Connell.

The evaluations for the night were delivered by Ellen, Frank and Gary, ending with Rita giving us the final General Evaluation for the night.  Rita also took the opportunity to thank Margaret S as outgoing President and to welcome Margaret Sm as the incoming.
