Cogito Ergo Sum

Paul, the Galway TM president, opened the meeting and welcomed members and guests. He introduced Jenny our Toastmaster, who guided us through the evening. Jenny continued the meeting by introducing the various officers of the meeting.
Paddy the grammarian gave us the word "bother" to use as often as possible. Thomas then started the Topics. It was his first time to do this and he did a splendid job with a wonderful variation of subjects from the meaning of life, to what makes you smiles do the uptake of the rental bike scheme in Galway city.

Cathal started the formal speeches with his Ice breaker. We love first speeches as members talk about their life, hobbies and families.
 

Cian delivered a Stage 2 speech based on a very difficult topic of philosophy with the question "How is the mind connected to the body? It was very interesting to listen to him about external and internal influences.

Margaret gave us a superb humorous speech about her love of crime thrillers. From Agatha Christy to Morse & Lewis - she has an amazing talent of telling stories and speeches which great varieties of tones, sound effect, body language and addressing the top table and guests and members alike

The last formal speech was by Pat, who gave a speech from the advanced leadership manual titled "Evaluate to Motivate". He used slides from the "Successful Club Series" of TM. Tips like: "Tell & Sell approach", evaluate the speech not the person and promote self esteem.

We then enjoyed tea and biscuits and I tasted Oreo's for the first time. At 10pm the meeting recommenced and Jenny called the evaluators of the formal speeches.

Margaret, Liam, Cathrin and Francis gave their supportive words and encouraging recommendations.
Jenny called on the officers of the evening to report on the ah's and the use of "bother". 

Sarah presented the creative corner with some interesting facts of her uncle and his innovation award by Bord Na Mona.

Mike who was General Evaluator and entertaining as always reviewed the meeting with some tips for the evaluators.  

Jenny closed the meeting and handed the closing ceremony back to Paul, who thanked guests and members for attending the meeting.

Our Christmas dinner meeting will be held on Wednesday 16th December in the Menlo Park Hotel.
It was a very enjoyable meeting and I learnt lots of new interesting facts. See you all in two weeks.
