The evening was opened by our President, Paul who gave a
warm welcome to the many guests and members in attendance. He introduced our
Toastmaster for the evening, Mike, who in turn introduced us to the officers
for the evening.
Pat was our Topics master for the evening, and gave a
selection of inventive topics that sparked a set of interesting discussions. Why Is The Sky Blue? Proved particularly
challenging! I think it has something to do with this…
Aonghus opened the speeches with a CC5 level speech on his
experiences with jogging. He led us through a lively account of his setbacks
with injuries and how he overcame them to run in the Galway Bay 10k, which he
completed.
Next, Ann presented a CC6 speech on learning to play golf.
She gave us great insight into the experiences of new golfers starting out
using an anecdotal structure.
Pat delivered ATM Silver speech presentation on the aims and
benefits of Toastmasters internationally and for individual members which was
very informative and was a great chance for the guests to see first-hand what
Toastmasters is about.
The second ATM Silver speech and closing speech of the
evening came from our President, Paul who read a passage from The Wind in the Willows that had us all
captivated throughout.
A short break of tea and an assortment of biscuits was
followed by our evaluators for the evening, Jenny, Donal, Frank and Francis who
had very supportive, personable and constructive words for Aonghus, Ann, Pat
and Paul.
Mike requested the officers to provide their feedback and
Aonghus read a poem for his creative corner.
Mary provided the general evaluation for the meeting. The meeting was brought to a close by Paul,
wishing us well and welcoming all to our next meeting on 28th October at
8:15pm, which will be held in the Walter Macken Suite. Come along!
