Pancakes and Phobias

The toastmasters meet on the 19/2/20 was great! Fantastic turnout, really great energy from the group and enthusiastic participation of both members and guests. It’s a credit to the organisation and the group ambiance that people are comfortable participating.
I have to say this group is so encouraging and supportive and that allows us all to grow and develop on our public speaking journeys. The Topicsmaster gave us some food for thought (and for impromptu speaking!) ranging from pancake toppings to unusual phobias to electric and hybrid cars.

We had an interesting mix of speeches including an ice-breaker (first speech on the journey) and a more experienced member giving his final speech in a series achieving him a complete toastmasters pathway. What’s interesting is that it doesn’t stop there. Even experienced members want to grow and after finishing one pathway, they simply start again!
We learned about how the brain works and the how to become a genius! Great intel of a Wednesday for sure. I loved the ice-breaker speech entitled ‘My Journey to Now’ as I feel it spoke to us all. She gave some insight on how our thoughts influence our feelings and our results and I think we could all empathise with that.
There is a tendency towards negativity bias nowadays and it’s time for us to pivot to more positivity through kind self-thoughts and of course attending positive toastmasters meetings! 😊
