An Indian summer evening

An Indian summer evening on the 17 september, there was a great turnout for another toastmasters evening in Galway Toastmasters Club. We were all welcomed with a friendly smile from our sergeant at arms. The evening started with a pleasant welcome from our President for the year, following quickly with a introduction to what Toasmasters is and what it can do for you for the many guests that attended this evening. The meeting was passed over to our toastmaster for the evening whom introduced our officers for the evening whom introduced themselves and gave a brief outline on their role for the evening.

The topics session was wonderfully themed for the evening. On the eve of the Scottish Referendum our Topicsmaster preceded each topic with a Scottish flavour from Haggis to the Loch Ness monster.

Four amazing speeches were delivered on the evening varying from a Toastmaster standing up to deliver his first ever speech 'The Icebreaker speech' to an advanced speakers. The advanced speech topics delved into the the wonders of the Wexford Opera, a fictional lesson which we remembered from school, the brown bull of Cooley, and a speech in praise of another individual and how it relates to the toastmasters own life.

After the break, the meeting continued with the evaluations of the speeches. The evaluations were delivered concisely without retelling the speech and from their point of view where the speaker could improve and enhance their speeches.

With the meeting coming to a close the officers for the evening reported expertly on the use of grammar and the use of filler words. The works of Shakespeare were used for our Creative Corner delivered by Toastmaster whom accepted the role on the night.

The evening was brought to a close by the president, where the Indian Summer's evening had turned into a cool night.
