Contests are run on a different format to ordinary weekly meetings. There are specific guidelines to adhere to.
Our Contest Chair for the evening was Donal, who did an excellent job introducing the evening and the speakers. He provided us with inspiring quotes on the nature of competition in between each section of the meeting. Our Topicsmaster was Ann and she gave us a wonderful selection of light hearted topics.
We had three speakers in the Humorous Speech contest. Frances spoke to us about the fun of bicycles. Pat informed us about the "cowboy" nature of business. And Mike told us about the only self help booked we’d ever need, the free calendar from the local supply shop.
In the Table Topics session, Pat and Mike both told us about the advice they would give to their ten year old selves.
Our winners for the evening were Mike for his Humorous Speech and Pat for the Table Topics competition. Both members will be going on to represent Galway Toastmasters in the Area final held in Westport on Saturday 17th October.
